John A. Mann Jr.

John Allen Mann Jr. was born on September 26, 1932 to John Allen and Nellie Lourie (Herron) Mann.  He was raised in Miami County, Ohio.

The family home had plastered walls and a sided exterior, but was  actually a log cabin that had been built circa 1805.

Water for kitchen and bath duties was pumped from a well outside the kitchen door, and the log sidewalls were visible from the closets.

After completing high school in Covington,  Ohio, he enrolled in Miami Jacobs Business College.

After graduating  from college, John enlisted in the United States Air Force.  During his  tour of duty, he was stationed in Texas, Colorado, Illinois, California,  Japan, Korea, and Montana.

After being discharged, John returned to Miami County, Ohio.  He was employed by the BF Goodrich Corporation for several years.  He then joined the Stolle Corporation and worked in time study.

He later moved to the Copeland Corporation, where he was employed for 37 years.

For many years he was a supervisor in the  Standards and Specifications Department and acted as the liaison between Copeland, the Canadian Standards Association, and Underwriter's  Laboratory.

John married Rosalyn Johnston in 1957 and settled in Shelby County, Ohio.  This union produced four children.

John died on August 6, 2016.  Rosalyn died on April 11, 2024.
